Graduate Programs

The department has two postgraduate programs: Master's and Doctorate.

Psychological Counseling and Guidance Master's Program The first program called "Psychological Services in Education" was opened in 1987 under the Institute of Social Sciences. Since 1994, the program called "Guidance and Psychological Counseling" has been opened within the scope of the Institute of Educational Sciences. Students who graduate from the program earn the title of "Expert Psychological Consultant". To apply for the master's program, it is necessary to have a bachelor's degree in psychology and psychological counseling. The student must have successfully completed the theoretical and practical studies required by the program. The duration of completion of the Thesis Master's program is four semesters. The thesis defense exam is held within 2 months following the submission of the thesis. The student who cannot successfully complete the credit courses and the seminar course at the end of four semesters, or whose GPA remains below 2.50, even if he/she completes the courses successfully at the end of this period, will be dismissed from the Institute.

Counselors who graduate from the master's program and earn the title of Expert Psychological Counselor work as school psychological counselors as "guidance teachers" in private and public schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. In Guidance and Research Centers; They work as guides and psychological counselors in private teaching institutions. T.R. They work under the title of "pedagogue" in the Ministry of Justice and in juvenile courts. They are employed in the Human Resources departments of private sector institutions to support personal development and work on personnel selection. They can work as psychological counselors in private and public institutions. They can work as Chiefs of the Guidance and Psychological Bureau in the police force. They can teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in state and foundation universities.
